At age 14, I was introduced to a program called Leadership CONNECTIONS.  Today, I am preparing for graduation from high school and will be attending college in the fall of 2000. A single step four years ago provided direction that has been coupled with support, guidance, and a network that inspired me to use my past as a stepping stone to success.

Becoming the 1998-1999 Chair of the Young Women's Advisory Team not only testing my willingness to become the best I could be, but provided me numerous opportunities to share with other young women what I have learned.  As I continue my journey, making CONNECTIONS across the state and nation, I am convinced that Walt Disney was correct in stating that "All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them."

Thank you to the staff of Leadership CONNECTIONS, the volunteers, mentors, and the North Carolina Council for Women for the opportunities afforded me during the last four years.  I will continue to give back as you have given me.

To the incoming participants and peers, I beg of you to continue to move forward and "never give up".
