Dr. Desna L. Wallin

Dr. Wallin has served as President of Forsyth Technical Community College since July 1995.  She has career experience in administration at the Community College level.  Dr. Wallin taught elementary through graduate school level  prior to her career in administration.

During her tenure at Forsyth Technical Community College, the college has grown by more than 25%, The Forsyth Tech Foundation has been reactivated, a Women's Resource Center has been created and a Male Minority Mentoring program has been established.

Dr. Wallin is active in various community activities, including service on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Community Colleges, the Executive Committee of Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce, the Piedmont Triad Education Consortium, Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Tech Prep Council and the Winston-Salem Technology Council.

Dr. Wallin co-authored Essentialism: Common Sense Quality Improvement. She is a frequent keynote speaker at conferences and serves as a consultant for small businesses, community agencies and colleges.

An honors graduate from Brigham Young University, she received her Masters Degree in English from Eastern Illinois University and her Doctorate in Post Secondary Curriculum and Instruction from Illinois State University.
